Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice
Debuted: Halloween 2013How I Made It
Lydia's character is more fleshed out in the movie, however I chose to do her animated design because it was suggested to me by my cosplay friend Jelfish. I already owned the black dress, tights, and shoes, so I simply focused on making the arm warmers, cape, and wig. The arm warmers are made out of 4-way stretch spandex. The cape is made of red polycotton and lined with purple 4-way stretch spandex. I hand-painted the black web design on the cape (I actually had to make this cape twice, due to painting the web on upside down the first time I created it). The entire cape pulls on over my head and is light and comfortable to wear. The wig is a cheap flapper wig, which I combed out and pulled up into a high ponytail. The purple and pink hair holder is an empty, fabric-covered, tiolet paper roll. I sewed the hair wrap into the wig to keep it in position while I wore it, and completed the look with lots of makeup.Images taken by Kyle Chambliss
